This is a tremendously important game for Aston Villa as we head into the international break. Gerrard is beginning to feel some of the strain that comes with being in charge of the team.

Even if Southampton has gotten off to a stronger start to the season than Villa has, the home crowd will still be anticipating a victory in this matchup.

I think Villa will come out on top, but it’s going to be a close race.

It was my 40th birthday, and we won 4-0, which was a very lovely touch – what a birthday present that would have been!
